Morning all,
I've been contacted by someone who is in the process of setting up his own security/surveillance company, and he has lent me a few in-car camera setups to try out, and report back to him.
He is also thinking about designing a setup primarily for Driving Instructors, so I thought I would get some feedback from as many people as possible.
So if you were going to use recordings during your lesson, what features would you want? Can you see any problems in using one, and would you be interested in it?
I look forward to your replies.
Many Thanks
Rob

Hi Rob. WELCOME. I'd be interested in something that could help in showing errors to my pupils, though the time spent showing them at the end of the session might be unmanageable... though perhaps that is something I need to address myself.
Cost is of course a big issue (might be selling some of those soon.... joke) and fitting needs to be simple. I suppose they'll need to be dvd r or similar?
Seem to recall someone on here a little while ago sying they had a setup they were using?
Regards, Boris.

I currently have a Safe Box system. I think they are fitted to London Met police cars (the first one I ordered came with police software in error). Forward and rear cameras, sound, night vision, GPS, G force recording onto an SD card. A seperate lead allows me to view images onto a seperate LCD screen. Its all about the size of a packet of fags, mounts behind the rear view mirror and cost around £200. If it had an internal screen or a bluetooth capability to a seperate screen it would be perfect.

Thank you for the replies so far.
T312, don't suppose you've got a link for one. Sounds very similar to the 2 I trying at the moment, and I'd like to compare.
Cheers

Ah, it is this one http://www.magnumvs.co.uk/vmchk/1616-Black_Box_Dual_Camera.htmlIf it is it's one of the units I'm trying, just under a different name. Whereabouts do you place it? I've got it just behind the left side of the drivers rear view mirror. The other one I've got is a bit bigger, but the software is more in depth, and it allows you to mark points so you can refer back to them quickly. Rob

Rob, Yes, that looks very similar. Probably just a different brand name. Mine is mounted behind the mirror too. You can mark points on it by flicking the left control upwards. Only found that out by trial and error. The instruction manual is pretty useless so you have to find these things out for yourself.

Cheers for that, you're right the instruction manual is pretty useless.
It's the unit I prefer out of the 2 I've been trying.
I'm not sure on the cost yet, but some places are selling it for £260, and his price will be less. How much less, I don't know.
If anyone's after more info, I'll try and help out, or put you in touch with a man who can.
Rob
