This is the first time I've started a thread on the Forum, so please bear with me. I apologize if I've used the wrong section

I was asked today by a pupil's Mother, if I had any knowledge of the Nintendo DS & it's effectiveness as a learning tool for the theory test.

As I'm not a child of the current generation I said I didn't, but would make enquiries.

Therefore, has anyone?

She has computer discs, but her machine is somewhat slow. So she would like to use the DS if it's deemed to be suitable.

What do you say?

Hi Les,

Its in an area where many can see it so worry Not - it could have gone into the other section bit also - as for Nintendo DS - like you I am not into these modern type 'games' however, should it have the capability of being used for Theory Testing then any device in my book is fine providing that real learning is taking place..

Regards,

The software for the DS works well (so I'm told by those who use it). The only draw back is it doesn't cover the hazard perception test.
I think you should reassure your pupil's mum that it will work well.
Another option useful for those who don't have a computer - or for those whose computer is a bit long in the tooth - is the Focus Multimedia DVD. It covers both tests, all from a standard DVD player.
Hope this helps.
